Freedom and Perpetual Adventure

Hello everyone,
As this is my first post I'll introduce myself:
I'm a 23 year old student of mechanical engineering that will graduate in half a year.
During my life I've always had a hunch for adventure and have been inspired by many great explorers, adventurers and their like (Ed Stafford, Livingstone, Joshua Slocum etc.) .
As such I was also inspired by Christopher McCandless's ideals of freedom and breaking away from society to pursue this whilst being self sufficient.
I noticed during my study that I don't want a life working in an office for 40 hours a week up to retirement.
I'd rather use my youth in order to develop myself while travelling, to truly get to know the world, discover firsthand its many mysteries and get to know its inhabitants.
My firm belief is that everyone should be able to do what they want in life, as long as they don't intentionally hurt others on this path but spread kindness wherever they go instead.
But let's cut to the chase:
As I've said in my introduction, I don't see myself settling in society and know for myself that is not what will bring me happiness in life.
For more than a year already my friend and I have been planning on going on a big adventure/expedition in a few years, with freedom as our biggest ideal.
We plan on making this our life. This being the case we're already planning everything and trying to learn the skills we might need, so as to minimise the risk.
Of course we know that we can never eliminate all the risks, but we're willing to take those risk in order to live our life without regrets.
The idea is to not be reliant on means of transport that will limit our freedom, like trains and aeroplanes.
We will only be travelling by boat, on foot and perhaps on animals if we manage to procure them.
As to the boat, we'll be building one ourselves and I'm currently designing it.
We plan on being self sufficient by means of gathering things ourselves or when we come in contact with local people by providing services for things we might need.
Using money will only be for the most dire circumstances and we will abstain from the use of it when we can.
We do know however that doing this with just two persons is going to be hard and that's why I'm placing this request here, because I know here we are among likeminded people.
I also know that I haven't been able to shed light on all details and perhaps omitted some things that are important to anyone that is interested.
I am, however, more than willing to answer any questions you might pose and to clarify things when anyone wishes so.
If this speaks to any of your hearts, do send me a message and I'll reply as soon as possible.
In the meantime I'm looking forward to getting to know you.
