Long distance trails

Postby bones » Sat Jun 08, 2013 7:02 pm

To anyone interested in traveling, meeting new people, and being in nature, you should consider doing a long distance hiking trail. I know a lot of people might be kind of scared to be out on "the road" like Chris was, but this is another way to live that kind of life and it's safer. On the Appalachian Trail for example, there are shelters where other hikers stay and hostels and towns right off the trail. To all the people who want to get away from society for a little while, this is a great way to do that and have fun. But if you want to do the whole thing, be prepared for a lot of physical and some mental hardships.

Check out this website for info on the Appalachian Trail: [this is the forums] http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/forum.php

There are also lots of videos on youtube about it.

That's a marvellous idea indeed and you deserve more credit for posting it.
It's also a good way to prepare. I did the same in Norway, because you can't learn about these experiences just by reading.
It comes highly recommended to get the hang of it and get the most out of a more permanent life on "the road".
