The internet and travelling

Postby bones » Thu Jan 10, 2013 8:10 pm

I saw some posts on here where people said it is getting harder to travel the way Chris did. That might be true, people might be less likely to pick up hitchhikers, it's harder to hop trains, and police are stricter. But there is a huge benefit from having the internet. We have access to maps, forums, and the ability to communicate with lots of other people. There are website like digihitch and hitchwiki that give first hand experience on how to travel cheap and information about places you want to go. You can also keep in touch with other travelers, because it's easy to get free access to a computer with internet in most towns and cities. All of those things can make it a lot less intimidating to someone who wants to travel this way, so in a way it's easier to travel today.
