Why do you think that Chris admired Jack London?

Chapter 2: On a wood carving discovered at the bus Chris McCandless carves the words "Jack London is King." It has nothing to do with romanticism and everything to do with wisdom.

I'm having this discussion alone. Here goes: Seems to me that if Jack London was alive now, he would have picked Chris up hitching a ride to anywhere. Maybe he would impart his unique brand of wisdom, just like everybody else did. Chris would have definitely sent London a postcard.

great question, which will forever be unanswered. i too admired him, but now knowthe way he really was, i find it difficult to see him the same. though i am in no position to judge, maybe chris was just enamored by his way of writing so much that none of that mattered. hell i dont know.
