Companionship for hike august/sept 2013

Postby Alaska2013 » Tue Apr 23, 2013 7:24 pm

Hello,

We are a couple from the Netherlands, 28 and 29 years old and we are planning to travel to alaska for three weeks in the last week of august 2013.
We are familiar with backpacking and hiking. But not familiar with the wild (like bears).

We are both in good condition. We definitly want to make the trip to the bus.
We are looking for a few people that want to make the trip with us.

Please let us know if you are intrested. You can contact us by mailing to: janoek@hotmail.com

I'm not an expert, but isn't late August, early Sept not a good time to go due to the river being high?

Hi amelia,
We have read I lot of information on the forum and stampedetrail.info and I think you have to have luck about the weather conditions.
But we also have seen a lot of people on youtube that were able to make it to the bus and back early september.

We have booked our trip to alaska yesterday. And will start our trip to the bus on september 2nd according to plan.
We have 4 days to try to make the trip to the bus, so hopefully that will be enough.

Best regards

September 2 could be a good time to go. There will be lots of hunters who can give you ride in their big trucks. And if you have problems with bears or anything else there will be Park Service Rangers out there on "hunting patrols" to help you.
