I just posted a video on youtube of a couple guys that I met on the Stampede Trail last summer (July 2012) who had never crossed a river wearing a backpack before. I taught them a proven method for groups of backpackers to use when crossing rivers by foot. The park rangers even teach this method to backpackers at Denali National Park. This is a great method if you're obviously in a group of 2-5 people. If you're going solo (not recommended) use the alternative packrafting approach I posted awhile back. ENJOY!

Disclaimer: Be safe! Rivers can be deadly when you're crossing them as has shown in the history of the Teklanika River. I take no responsibility for injuries or loss of life due to inexperiance or any other reason due to this video. Get experiance with a group before you hit the trail
