2012 September 7-9 - My Itinerary!

Hello, I finally booked my flights to Alaska!

This is my itinerary (I'm open to suggestions and modifications, I just can't change the dates I'll arrive/leave Alaska because the flights are already booked).

Sept 05
- Fly from San Diego and arrive in Anchorage at 23:45.
- Rent a car at the airport.
- Sleep in a hostel in Anchorage.

Sept 06
- Drive to Healy early in the morning. Arrive in Healy around 1pm.
- Flight tour from Healy over the Stampede trail until the Magic Bus just to recognize the area.
- Visit the "fake" Magic Bus in Healy (actually the bus that was used on the film).
- Sleep in a tent in a camping area in Healy.

Sept 07
- Drive through the Stampede Rd until the 8-Mile Lake.
- Leave the car and start the trail until the Teklanika river.
- Cross the river and sleep in the area.

Sept 08
- Finish the trail until the Magic Bus.
- Stay a few hours in the bus and come back to the Teklanika river.
- Cross the river and sleep in the area.

Sept 09
- Finish the trail back to the car.
- Sleep in a tent in a camping area in Healy.

Sept 10
- Drive to Anchorage early in the morning. Arrive in Anchorage around 1pm.
- Hike up to the Flat Top mountain in Anchorage (+- 3 hours round trip).
- Go back to the airport.

Sept 11
- Return the car at the airport.
- Get the flight back to San Diego at 00:40 at the Anchorage Intl Airport.

Cost Estimates:
- Car Rental ... $187 (including all taxes for the whole period)
- Gas ... $75 (estimative for the whole period, we'll be driving a total of 555 miles)
- Flight Tour ... $200
- Hostel in Anchorage ... $25
- Camping in Healy ... $15 (x2 nights)
- Food ... ?

If we go together, we can share the costs of the car rental, gas and flight tour. And of course we'll be sharing an amazing experience!

ps: September 6th 2012 is gonna be exactly 20 years that the body of Chris was discovered at the bus. So we'll be flying over the bus in a very important date!

Wow,makes me feel old. Chris was just 2 years younger than me. He'd be 40 this year if he was still with us.

I wish I could go.
