Lure of Magic Bus

Postby skeeter » Mon Oct 31, 2011 8:51 pm

My English class just read the book Into the Wild. I've been living in Alaska for the past 11 years, I love it's beauty but also have lots of respect for how unforgiving the "wild" can be. For this reason I struggle to try and understand why people year after year attempt to visit the bus that Christopher McCandless died in. No matter what time of year the attempts are made many people have to be rescued and risk their own lives to get there and I can't help but wonder why. If they do make it to the bus what do they gain by going there? For those of you who have made the trip successfully what do you feel you gained from it?
