Man rescued from Stampede Trail

A man from Tennessee had to be airlifted by helicopter on Wednesday when he got stuck on the far side of the Teklanika River just like Chris McCandless.

It's funny he would go out and cross the Tek last week. It was the rainiest period of the whole summer so far. There is a wide creek on the north edge of Healy called Dry Creek. If you see any water at all running in Dry Creek when you cross over it on the hiway bridge then you can figure that the Tek is too high to cross. Go down to the south edge of Healy and visit the 49th State brew pub where you can see the Movie Bus from the Penn movie. Have a beer, take a break and wait for the weather forecast to improve.
