Re: What year is that bus?
The bus used in the movie was dumped at Healy, I believe, after the crew was done with it, and the locals were wondering what to do with it. The bus on the trail is definitely a 1942 International Harvester. Jon Krakauer says so in the book. I seem to remember a photo of the movie bus being printed on the cover of Outside magazine in 2007, and it is definitely NOT from the 1940s. The movie bus has the "iH" logo (an "i' within an "H") that was used from sometime in the 1950s onward, up until the company was acquired by Navistar in the 90s. In the 1940s the company logo was two triangles with the points pointing opposite each other, and a bar between them to make an "H", and the word INTERNATIONAL in the bar area. I will have to go wiki up International Harvester's wikipedia page and see if it doesn't have the logos.

Re: What year is that bus?
Little known facts.
Something I learned in Alberta. .. Maybe the only thing I learned in Alberta!
IHC is often thought to stand for International Harvester Company or Corporation. The C actually stands for "Cornbinder".
We used to just call any International vehicle a Cornbinder and nobody knew what we were talking about.
Go get the cornbinder!

No, it's not. There's some bonus material with the DVD, telling some things about the production of the movie. They rebuilt a similar bus for the shooting. With all the other stuff they told (everything being shooted in the original places) I first thought that they had put that movie bus quite close to the real bus, but in fact, as I read somewhere later, it seems the movie bus was put somewhere near Cantwell, where they also did the shooting.
