I just signed up to let you know, it's not that address. According to the documentary "Call of the Wild", when he is on the street looking for the house, he found it. So I cruised down the street on google maps, and found it. It's actually 4620 Willet. I dont really know why I felt compelled to tell you, It's not that I had to prove you wrong, but I just didn't want you to think it was that single story white house.
I recently watched the movie, Into The Wild, then saw the documentary. It's a pretty interesting story. I hate to say it, but it doesn't seem that he was very smart to do what he did. I'm surprised he even made it as long as he did, with what little rations he had. Still sad though, he didn't deserve to die that way.

The address is 100%, 4608 Willet Drive, not 4620. You can check the public real estate documents online, which now say “Names withheld by request” on them. I’m not sure why in the documentary the author had another house. Likely, he just didn’t have legal permission from the new homeowner to show their house in the documentary, so he found the closest similar house on the street and got their permission.

I first read the book while in grad school in the late '90's early 2000's and was fascinated with his story. Later I watched and re-watched the movie - mostly because I shared so many of his opinions but lacked the bravery to just strike out on my own. Anyway, I recently quit a high paying job that kept me in the Maryland/DC/VA area for the past 17 years and realized that I had been riding my bike through Chris' Annandale VA neighborhood all these years and didn't realize it. I looked at my heat map and recognized exactly where I could have turned off the Long Branch Trail, into Rutherford Park and been right there on Willet ... not sure what I would have done other than look, just an odd sensation knowing how close I was for so many years.
