John Steinbeck

This is living the vagabond lifestyle. I am a fan of Grapes of Wrath but I am unable to locate any specific references to "John Steinbeck" within the book. Has anyone seen Steinbeck's name used???? It is supposedly somewhere within the text. I have even gone to the extent of downloading the Kindle version and searching it that way with no luck. I suspect some type of hidden message by Krakauer. Has anyone ever heard of this before????

I can't answer tour question, but who is john steinbeck?

That name sounds so damn familiar.
