Postby JesusIsLove777 » Wed Mar 30, 2011 3:36 am

He said he brought no money, but i heard he had around 200 dollars. regardless, in todays age, how much do you think it will cost to vagabond around for a few months, or as long as possible?? i've been working and have made about 2000 dollars.. will that be enough, if i go with someone else??

2K doesn't go very far. It could last you quite a while though if you ACTUALLY live bare bones. Get spaghetti and rice and beans and dried potatoes and stuff. Stay in a tent every night, and NOT at a camp ground (10 dollars a night at a campground is 70 bucks a week and about 240 a month.) I've talked to some people and I've had some friends who have done some crazy stuff. A buddy of mine left Alaska hitchhiking down the highway through Canada with just 350 bucks in his pocket. He made it for about a year before he got a 'real job.' All things considered that's actually pretty impressive.

The price of vagabonding is minimal.

But first, you must be prepared mentally, physically, and spiritually to deal with the challenges that such a lifestyle will pose.

Once can sleep anywhere for free. One can eat for nothing or just pennies a day.

The cost of living as Chris did, can not be measured in monetary terms. The cost is measured by the damage done to one's soul.

Unlike Chris, there are probably few who do choose to vagabond who survive the journey with their soul intact. Many vagabonds surrender their morals, succumb to drug use, or indulge in other soul-destroying behaviours as they travel.

Although Chris died at the end of his journey, his soul was unburdened and undamaged.

If you want to become whole,
let yourself be partial.
If you want to become straight,
let yourself be crooked.
If you want to become full,
let yourself be empty.
If you want to be reborn,
let yourself die.
If you want to be given everything,
give everything up. The Master,
sets an example for all beings.
Because he doesn't display himself,
people can see his light.
Because he has nothing to prove,
people can trust his words.
Because he doesn't know who he is,
people recognize themselves in him.
Because he has no goal in mind,
everything he does succeeds. When the ancient Masters said,
"If you want to be given everything, give everything up,"
they weren't using empty phrases.
Only living can you be truly yourself.
