what had happned to him if he had crossed the river?

1) coming back to his family in Annandale and starting a " normal " life
2) coming back to his best friend Wayne, and living there working with him
3) going on on his own journey tramping all over the country
4) being adopted by Ronald and living with him

Hey Marco...Thanks for sharing some "food for thought"...it is always interesting to reflect on "what ifs"...or, "hindsight is 20/20" situations, whether introspectively (our own lives), or when thinking about amazing individuals, like Chris. He would have been 47 years old now, if he had crossed the river, and survived any further adventures. Its hard to imagine what such a well-educated, well-read, dreamer, lover of life, etc, would have accomplished-IMAGINE. Here are a couple more "what ifs" to add to your list:

What if Chris successfully cured the moose meat, which would have provided several months of nourishment?
What if the hunters (that found his body) arrived on Chris' day 111 or 112...near death, but able to be rescued and helicoptered out?

What if...IMAGINE!
