Every time I search this question up, all I get is "what did he have with him in Alaska" but I want to know what he had before that. Do you think he had a tent, a few bag, hiking shoes or regular shoes? Has anyone ever thought about that themselves?

He definitely did have a tent, as the book "Into the wild" as well as the pictures in "Back to the wild" clearly show.
Then there is his backpack, obviously, his sleeping bag, both things he had from the start and till the end of his journey.
I'm not sure for the hiking boots, though. He had them in Alaska, but did he have them before? I don't know, but I suppose so, as Gallien described them as cheap and non-waterproof hiking boots.
