What if Chris changed his mind about the whole trip? What would you think of him? Would Chris be considered smart for not leaving of a coward for not going with his heart?

I think Chris would have been just as successful as was before he left. I think he would have went to a very successful college and make a heck of a lot of money. I think he would find a hippie-ish woman and had a happy life, but I really don't think that he would be as happy as he was when he went into the wild. I think it would've been smarter not to make the choice to leave for the wild so unprepared, but he wouldn't be the same person he ended up becoming if he didn't go.

I think Chris would be a strong man for leaving his dreams behind. It takes a lot of courage to follow them, but also a lot of strength to leave them. He probably thought about his family and didn't want them to be hurt by him. He went to college for a reason so maybe he wanted to move into his career.
