While chris was in the wild did he honestly stick to a vegetarian diet or did he actually go kill wild game? Also, what animals did he kill because he can't kill big game due to the lack of efficient refrigeration?

Chris ate anything that was edible. In the book it says he killed porcupines, squirrels, and one time a moose. When he killed the moose it was a happy moment, but then realized he couldn't do anything with it because he wouldn't know how to refrigerate the left over meat. Later on he eats these seeds and he thought they were okay to eat, but turns out to be very poison. That is the real reason how he died, not because of starvation, but because of the seeds.

Chris had a lot of rice already with him. On chapter 16, he went out to a university to study up on what kind of plants he could eat. He held on to a book about plants in his backpack. He shot a lot of squirrels, spruce grouse, duck, goose, and porcupines. He gathered a lot of rose hips and lingonberries. He had a journal of all the animals and plants he gathered and killed.
