Also on Chris' reading list:

Crime and Punishment (Fyodor Dostoevsky)
Moon Face (London)
Brown Wolf (London)
To Build A Fire (London)
O Jerusalem! (L.Collins & D. Lapierre)
Doctor Zhivago (Boris Pasternak)
Terminal Man (Michael Crichton)
Death of Ivan Ilych (Tolstoy)
Education of a Wandering Man (Louis L' Amour)
Kreutzer Sonata (Tolstoy)
The Autobiography of a Super-Tramp (W. H. Davies)
Wise Men in Their Bad Hours (poem by Robinson Jeffers)
Tanaina Plantlore (Priscilla Russel Kari)

I would venture a guess as to state that any works by authors: London, Homer, Oscar Wilde, H.G. Wells, George Bernard Shaw, Louis L' Amour and of course, Leo Tolstoy, would have been in Chris' library.
Happy Reading to all!
