Christopher McCandless

41:09 minutes into episode # 138 is where you see the swimmer!

I think if we do the simple math, we can draw the conclusion that "the swimmer" is not Chris McCandless. Chris passed away in 1992, the interview with "the swimmer" took place in 2008. Before watching the footage, I definitely had my fingers crossed in hopes that it was though.

Jury is still out, The footage from 2008 could of been unaried footage from 1992. I happened to be looking through some pictures and noticed a still of McCandles in Swimming trunks posing in front of a lake that looks something like Mono lake. And from my memory of the footage the swimmer was wearing some funky floral patterned shorts just like the ones McCandles had been photographed in. Since Huel Howser passed away some years ago, I am not sure who you could contact to find out who edited the 2008 episode. But from my memory the shorts do look the same.

I think it was him.
The only way to be sure would be to post it and let people decide for themselves.
