Two days ago I read a humorous article on Cracked.com about "Five People Who Died To Prove...Absolutely Nothing"
Chris McCandless was #1.
I immediately set out to research everything I could find on him, I watched the documentary and Sean Penn's film and started reading Into the Wild.
Honestly, I could not disagree with the writer of that article any more.
Chris didn't die to prove anything to anyone; he was an amazing and inspiring man who has touched my heart and soul with his courage and zest for life. I had planned all through high school to take a year off before college and go on a massive trip around the world -just me, my backpack, a few bucks and whatever life had to throw at me. Unfortunately this dream never culminated into anything real. And now, having found Chris, I feel new inspiration and hope for my dream which someday I will fulfill.
Thank you, Alexander Supertramp!
