Music Chris might have liked in college

Postby Anewanddifferentsun » Sun Jan 16, 2011 2:53 am

This song was big - VERY BIG - in 1987 and still has a timeless feel. Read the lyrics and tell me if you think this is something Chris listened to while in college and beyond. I don't think there's any question he knew it well.

I want to run
I want to hide
I want to tear down the walls
that hold me inside
I want to reach out
and touch the flame
where the streets have no name

I want to feel sunlight on my face
see that dust cloud disappear without a trace
I want to take shelter from the poison rain
where the streets have no name
where the streets have no name
We're still building then burning down love
burning down love
And when I go there, I go there with you
It's all I can do

The cities aflood
and our love turns to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind
trampled in dust
I'll show you a place
high on the desert plain
where the streets have no name
where the streets have no name
Still building, then burning down love
and when I go there, I go there with you

U2, Where The Streets Have No Name. I remember it well. Chris doesn't seem to have been the type to listen to popular/rock music. There's no indication he ever attended school dances in HS, which I used to do just to listen to the music. Everybody who knew him talks about show tunes and stuff like that with regards to Chris. He seems to have been more interested in the music of his parents' generation than his own.
