Re: IS THERE MORE TO THE CHRISTOPHER MCCANDLESS STORY???
Anyone interested in making a map of the Stampede Trail.
I know you can pin pics on Google maps, I suppose you could pin notes as pics.
I don't know that the location of the cabins has ever been pointed out exactly.
They may actually be visible on google maps if you knew where to look.
The Stampede Trail is visible on Google Maps. Even the bus is visible in the satellite imagery.
You have to look for it but once you know where it is you can locate it easily the next time.
Perhaps there is another mapping system that is easier to use?
I liked the video of the remains of the cable tram. That location could be identified with a pic.

I just found this link here, which also contains some more or less detailed maps: http://www.orecreek.org/bin/messageaudio/2009/Wildlife.pdf

Wow, guys. Lay off User1. So s(he) had some questions that could have been easily answered with a little research - either you answer or ignore... no reason to be so cruel.

For some reason I'm finding that this link doesn't work
Re: IS THERE MORE TO THE CHRISTOPHER MCCANDLESS STORY???
Oh, indeed, this doesn't seem to work any more because I don't get it any longer either.
Unfortunately I didn't save the pdf anywhere either.

Did you already know this link here? http://www.digital-topo-maps.com/
The quality is not very good, but at least you have the possibility to get the maps show it topographic mode by clicking on "My topo" as soon as you have found the area. For the rest, in works like Google maps. On the topo map, the bus is not marked, but we all know where it is, anyway, don't we. The Stampede trail is marked and the bus is somewhere where the trail crosses the Sushana river. The cabins are marked (the nearest one on the Sushana river further south, at the national park border) and the gauging station on the Tek as well.

Re: IS THERE MORE TO THE CHRISTOPHER MCCANDLESS STORY???
So I uploaded a photo to Google Maps of a Denali Park Ranger Cabin right at the location of the ranger cabin on the topo map on the Sushana River.
Its not "the" cabin at that location but its a close facsimile as it is a Denali Park Cabin.
I'll post a pic of some sort at the location of the tram as well. Maybe find one of the real thing.
Does anyone know the exact location of Will Forsberg's cabin on the Stampede Trail?

Hi All,
I have monitored this topic for a while, hoping things would calm down.
I believe that everyone is entitled to an opinion and it is great to see so many come to this place to voice these opinions.
But please, refrain from abuse. This is not what I wanted when I built the site, nor is it what Chris would have wanted.
Lets try and stay positive.
I am not into banning people from forums - that is not my style. But please do not respond to aggression, but rather stick to the topic.
I am not naming anyone, just a comment.
Thanks again for being a part of this.
Cheers, Adam
