Chris's Parka

Postby loganr0530 » Sun Nov 12, 2017 9:50 pm

For a while now I had been trying to find what parka Chris wore in Alaska. But I couldn't find what kind it was anywhere. So after extensive research of vintage parkas I have finally found the one he wore, which was apparently given to him by Franz. It is a 1943-1945 U.S. Army Field Parka Pile Liner. He wore had the liner, there was actually a rain-proof anorak that went over it. These parkas were issued to the 10th Mountain Division. In the book it says Franz was in the war, so was that his unit? Or did he just happen to have this parka? Anyways, these parkas pop up on eBay every now and then, with prices ranging from $70-$900. I was lucky enough to actually find and buy an early 1943 version, not quite the same as Chris's because it doesn't have the zipper in front, but close enough. Hopefully some of you will find this information useful.
