POEM read by Alex to Corrine

Postby Tchr29 » Wed Oct 20, 2010 3:02 pm

I'm an English I teacher and my students have been reading Into the Wild. I've also showed them some clips of the movie. My students keep asking for MORE--they have completely fallen in love with this story--which has me so excited.

I've given them several at-home BONUS assignments and they're asking for more. I'd like to ask them to find the POEM that Alex was reading to Corrine after his graduation, when they arrived at the restaurant.

Any ideas on what poem or book of poems from which he was reading?

The quote is referenced to Sharon Olds. I don't know the exact work but it's pretty graphic stuff. Maybe too graphic depending on the age and the parents!
There is no greater scripture than nature, for nature is life itself.
