Some photographs spark an immediate response. The shot Chris took on Aug. 1, 1992 of the sun drowning in the sea of trees overlooking the Sushana is such a photograph. Knowing he died 17 days later, I was struck by its symbolism. And, so, I quickly penned a haiku.
Sushana
I fade into trees
Sunset by the Sushana
Sunrise in question
Answers on a page,
This light burns low yet so bright
Self to selflessness
But the hour's late
My third month is too far gone
It fades into trees
The sunset at Sushana photo
