Re: The Price Of Chris' Lifestyle...
2K doesn't go very far. It could last you quite a while though if you ACTUALLY live bare bones. Get spaghetti and rice and beans and dried potatoes and stuff. Stay in a tent every night, and NOT at a camp ground (10 dollars a night at a campground is 70 bucks a week and about 240 a month.) I've talk...

Re: Whats up at the Bus
The video is pretty neat. You can really see the damage though just since I was out there last in 09. I can see the family's concern for the items that were in the bus. I mean if the last time they were there was 2006 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) then imagine what your reaction would be seeing ...

Dermot Cole wants the Bus Removed
Dermot Cole recently wrote this article: http://newsminer.com/pages/full_story/push?blog-entry-McCandless-+parents+made+return+trip+to+bus+where+son+died%20&id=12536006&instance=blogs_editors_desk It is imperative that people like us get on and comment back to people like Dermot. He's got hi...

Re: Who is doing what chris did??
What Aaron is saying is actually mostly true (in my opinion.) Adventure involves risk to be certain, and adventure certainly stimulates the soul. If you want to go on an adventure though, tell people where you are going. Leave a plan behind and tell people when you expect to be back. Stay in contact...

Re: Have You Been Able To Find Books As Good as This??
Though fictional, and a little more elementary, I seem to remember really enjoying reading 'Hatchet' by Gary Paulsen. http://tinyurl.com/65wlj4a Of course I was in 4th grade at the time so it was probably more impressive then. I should re-read that book.

Re: list of places mccandless traveled to in order?
@ellisd, Would you mind if I post the file on my site and provide a direct link to it here on the forum? Then people wouldn't have to wait the 45 seconds or whatever and I could ensure the file will be available/not-corrupt.

Re: Stampede Trail to Stampede Mine Map?
Well here it is: http://www.pathfinderalaska.com/stampedetrail/documents/8miletokantishna.kmz Keep in mind though, this KMZ follow the path of the original Stampede Trail until it reaches Stampede Mine. Everything from there to Kantishna is just based on using the river beds, ridgelines, and some ex...
