Re: Thoughts
...and im thinking of dropping everything and heading out next year. There are people in africa who are starving and dying and all people care about is themselves. If I understood you right, you want to "head out" in order to help fighting against world hunger? Any concrete plans so far?

Re: MY Intro and opinion
This is shown in his not wearing a helmet while white water kayaking. You are talking about the movie, not about the real Chris, who actually did not have any kayak at all, but a canoe, which he had bought for a rather calm part of the Colorado river (no rapids). If you are really interested in the...

Was it truly one of the last things he wrote?
No, it wasn't. At least according to the book, he made this note by the end of July, just a few days before the first journal note about him feeling extremeley weak and so on.

Re: What Chris means to me
I can only imagine if there had been a public internet in Chris's day. Well, then he would probably have been happy to get away from it by walking into the wilderness. I mean, as far as I understood the person he was, he would certainly not have written any information in the internet about his jou...

Re: Magic Bus moved!!!!
I personally hate the whole Chris mythology, Sean Penn making a movie that implies Chris was Jesus, crap like that. Chris wouldn't have wanted us to worship him like a god. I hate to say it, but stuff like this is how new religions are formed, and Chris was highly skeptical of organized religion. A...

Re: What did learn from this experience? Do you agree with him?
I also meant the part at the end that it seems that he realized that hapiness must be shared. I don't think he realized this at the end, he only wrote this sentence - already several weeks before he died - under the passage of this book where it read "...and that unshared happiness is not happ...

Re: What did learn from this experience? Do you agree with him?
Hi, the usual questions about what went on in a person's brain who died many years ago. We only know what he wrote in his letters, journal and notes, as well as some things he said to people he knew or met. So no one will be able to really answer your questions. What are some major reasons he went t...

Re: Question
his height (derived from the BMI given) was 5 foot, 6 inches (1.67 meters). As far as I know, this is the height of Emile Hirsch, but Chris McCandless was a little bit taller (though not much ;) ). Here's an article that states he was 5 foot 8 inches, and that they found at least his weight of the ...

Re:
First of all, we will never know exactly what Chris really thought or felt, of course. Personal impressions? Did Chris choose to die, comitted suicide, or did he simply "fuck up" the calculations for when to get out of the wilderness? Well, this seems to be quite obvious. Many things seem ...
