Re: Kayaking the Colorado River documentary

What a beautiful trip! I kept thinking 'Where'd the financing come for such a trip of a lifetime'? But, I digress... There are some very HIGH highs, and many very LOW lows, such as at the end of the River. In my mind, I pictured the River, in it's entirety. It parallels Chris' life so well. The end,...

BACK To The Wild...?

Re: Kids

VERY WELL SAID, Adam. Too bad alot of life is hindsight, and not many take great advice. We parents always try to do better than the previous generation. 'Doing better' though, to many means MORE money and MORE stuff.

I think Chris would have made an exceptional Father.

Re: The green onion effect...

OK, Steve. Gross, but glad to hear you are OK, and thinking! Yes, Chris endured quite an ordeal, we are sure. I've been an avid gardener for years, and will always be learning new things. But, always wash everything, too. It is very rewarding to grow your own food. It does taste better! And, if you ...

Re: The Holy Economy

I cannot be sure what drives whom. I can see in my modest 'world' that most people just want MORE, I don't know why. Sometimes I think I want something. I don't really need it. When the thought process goes through my head, 'I don't REALLY NEED that', I usually don't purchase it. The decision elates...

Re: Great new article by Ron Hamilton on Chris' death

Thank You, Anewanddifferentsun! I suppose that was all I was contemplating....a combination of starvation and ODAC. Yes, Chris was still mobile to a point, but the reference to 'injury', and that entry on Day 100: 'Made It!' This entry suggests he had a bout with illness. I cannot get past the entry...

Re: Great new article by Ron Hamilton on Chris' death

All I am taking from this article, in my opinion, is that it seems to be the CLOSEST explanation to what really happened, which we all are debating, wondering and questioning as totally curious humans. So, Erik, I would have to say you didn't eat enough, as you said yourself. Or, possibly the TIME t...

Re: what killed him?

Has anyone (and you all really should) read the new 'submitted papers' article written by Ron Hamilton? It is VERY telling in regard to all of our curiosities about the death of Christopher McCandless. I believe Mr. Hamilton has come the closest to the truth as we will get in this lifetime. The desc...

Re: Great new article by Ron Hamilton on Chris' death

Woah!! I love this article! Thank you, Ron Hamilton, for this, AND two very important (to me...) points made. One: your instinct initially kicking in, back when you leafed through the pages of the 'new' Into The Wild novel, and 2: you, actually, 'listening' to Chris' words in his journal. It was the...
