September 2 could be a good time to go. There will be lots of hunters who can give you ride in their big trucks. And if you have problems with bears or anything else there will be Park Service Rangers out there on "hunting patrols" to help you.

The blue van was abandoned there between the Savage and Tek in the 80's. It was south of the trail in that low stretch of trail just before the tek.
