Re: when 142 was left behind

What I was told, is that the green bus in this photo is the OTHER green bus. There were four buses in total. Two orange, Two green. The orange ones were for the men. Bus 142 was where Mickey's family lived. The other green bus was the kitchen/galley. I believe that is the bus in the back of this sho...

Re: when 142 was left behind

Yes, my mistake. This must be one of the hills east of the bus then. Looks different with the snow.

Re: Into the Wild Fans

Do you have an email people could send their responses to rather than posting here on the forum?

Re: Another story about a young guy in the wilds of Alaska

You may see this same post from me on a Facebook group but here goes: One thing that is never clearly established in this piece, is whether or not this young man even knew who Chris was. The Alaska media has a real tendency to try and associate anything they can with Chris, because it makes for more...

Re: Animal Planet special on Chris (next year)

I'm wondering if there is really enough demand to justify a production of that scale anymore. I guess I could be wrong.

Animal Planet special on Chris (next year)

So I was surfing around today when I stumbled on this gem:

It appears Animal Planet is doing a 20 year special on Christopher McCandless. Interesting.

Re: really now

Ron Franz/Russell Fritz (to whom that CJM quote was directed) was no youngin either ;) In that same letter he says "You are still going to live a long time, Russ, and it would be a shame if you did not take the opportunity to revolutionize your life and move into an entirely new realm of experi...

Re: really now

At the risk of being a little offensive here, I've seen all of you guys talking about this for a long time and it kind of seems like either you're trying to convince yourselves, or you're waiting for someone else to say something or offer that one piece of support that gives you the resolve to make ...

Re: How is it possible to camp in Alaska for over 15 days?

Chris was very near Denali National Park, but there is a notch cut out of the north-east corner of the park known as the Stampede corridor, that is not part of the park. The bus is located at the deepest part of that notch, so he was not subject to park regulations.

Re: Stampede- Road or Trail?

I've got a nice little 4x4 ranger back home for offroading. I just like the way they look. I've seen one driving around the Spenard area of Anchorage in the past, fully restored.

In reality I'd probably never buy one, but I can always put it on my when-i'm-a-billionaire list.
