Re: A day in the life
I think he wanted to be alone. He need to be independent and leave his family so he can search for what life really is. He lived life the way he wanted, not the way others wanted him to. Of course who wouldn't be lonely after a few days, but you later learn that things get better.

Re: What if chris changed his mind?
I think Chris would be a strong man for leaving his dreams behind. It takes a lot of courage to follow them, but also a lot of strength to leave them. He probably thought about his family and didn't want them to be hurt by him. He went to college for a reason so maybe he wanted to move into his care...

Re: Happiness Only Real When Shared
I completely agree when Chris says "happiness only real when shared". To find happiness you must motivate yourself to get things you want in life. You must set goals and accomplish them. There is a man I work with who always knows how to cheer someone up when they are down. Whenever someon...

Re: What to do in the meantime?
I think you should prepare for your journey! Not everyone can be as lucky as Chris. You just have to have faith in people who help you. That's one of the biggest things. Chris was brave to get into strangers cars and live with them. He didn't know if they were murderers or rapist, but he chose to th...

Re: FOOD?
Chris ate anything that was edible. In the book it says he killed porcupines, squirrels, and one time a moose. When he killed the moose it was a happy moment, but then realized he couldn't do anything with it because he wouldn't know how to refrigerate the left over meat. Later on he eats these seed...

Re: Would you do what Chris did?
I would not do what Chris did specifically, but I would do it my own way. Instead of going off into the wild, I would explore the city. I'm from the country side and there isn't much to do here, but when I'm in the city I feel at peace and so comfortable. I want to leave, not run away. I want to liv...

Re: This book made me reevaluate my life.
Reading "into the wild" encourages me to do what I want to do. It's my life, not anyone else's. I think that's how Chris saw it. He didn't care what people had to say about him just a long as he was living life the way he wanted, everything was okay. Of course, you can't do all things by y...

Re: The life style he chose
I think he chose this lifestyle because it was his dream to live this way. He didn't want to get married and have a job right away, he wanted more. He was young and wanted to explore. He wanted to start living the way he wanted not the way his family wants him to. Chris was finally free. It was time...

Re: What do you think about Chris going into the wild?
I think Chris going into the wild was a brave thing. He was rebellious. He knew the consequences that came along his journey, but he took those chances because that's how he wanted to live. Most people would be too afraid to go. It takes a lot of courage for someone to go out on their own. I know I ...
