I think that he burned all his money because when he started his adventure, I guess he wanted to "Start" his life over again from basically nothing. Yes he did get more jobs along the way but I guess that was a part of his plan, he only needed the money for basic survival, not for luxury.

I would think that he would have learned a lesson (say if he was found on deaths row and found last second) maybe go back to see the people that had changed his trip and share his adventures with them. Chris would probably have written a book about his adventures and his near death experience. Lastl...
