i find it shocking that chris lasted until AFTER emory until he made his big adventure.

i wonder if he saw school, including college, as a joke.

he probably hated the conformity and indoctrination of it all... i know i do.

okay, i'm in college now but when i get out, i plan on doing a lot of traveling, as much as i can! hitchhiking, train hopping, driving, flying, ANYTHING! however, what would you recommend i take? aside from clothing/money, would i just need a backpack, food, tent, sleeping bag?? or is that too much?...

anyone hitchhiked or trainhopped?/ i'd love to do both! :) i think its a fallacy that hitchhiking is a "death threat" or serial killers will come out and kill you and all that crap haha, thoughts??

i think hitchhiking looks so fuN!!!!! i have this friend of mine, and he has hitchhiked across the country many times and in australia, europe, etc. for about 4 years. he's 26 now and hasn't had ANY bad problems, obviously he's alive and well! haha :) i personally haven't done it, but would love to ...

well if thats true, the media sure does play a huge part in advocating kids to go to college.. the commercials for school supplies, colleges, community college, etc. thats the thing; the government KNOWS that people who are in school every single year for 15 years, are going to be so heavily indoctr...

he had a passion for helping others.. people say he didn't value human relationships, but if i don't recall he DID spend many weekends going downtown, buying a ton of big macs and giving them to the homeless, having conversations with them. he studied many african, world hunger, etc. type of classes...

this topic is great! has anyone had experience with working odd jobs while on the road? perhaps even similar to what Chris did? i know this guy who travels the world with like only 100 bucks. he just counts on the good-heartedness of people for food, transporation, and even shelter. he just hitchhik...

yeah good point "go north"... have any of you done hitchhiking, extensive traveling through road trips, camping, backpacking, etc.??
